Philosophy of Teaching PE

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
You and I were placed on this Earth for a purpose. We do not know the number of our days, so we should live each day to its fullest while honoring God and being a light for Him.
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Much emphasis is placed on the body in the Bible. Being physically active is not only enjoyable, but is also honoring to God. Eating healthy and keeping your bodies free from impurities are other ways that we show respect and honor to our Creator.
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11
Along with keeping your body strong and healthy, it is important to have a strong mind. Scripture memorization does not exercise your body physically, but your mind mentally. In times of weakness you can recall what the Lord has said in His word.
“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
Romans 12:4-5
Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. We were created unique and can each bring something different to the classroom. Although we are different, we are all working together towards a common goal. Foremost, bringing glory and leading others to Christ. Though skills and abilities range, we are on the same team as children of God.
As a Physical Education teacher, I feel that it is my responsibility to educate students about the wonderful body which God has given to us. This entails the physical, mental, and spiritual care required to maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.
